“We leave something of ourselves behind when we leave a place, we stay there, even though we go away. And there are things in us that we can find again only by going back there.”
-Pascal Mercier

This quote captures the essence of travel very aptly, communicating to us how traveling must not be treated as a burden, instead it has therapeutic effects that cannot be delivered by any spa in the world! The conglomerate of various attributes has resulted in its healing powers; holding the key to self-discovery and self-actualisation!
Although traveling can affect the lives of those who wish to embark on this path in numerous ways, I have tried to categorise these, providing an overview to the same.
- Interaction With People From Different Cultures!
In every day’s scenario, we do not get to interact with people who follow unique traditions and cultures which are new to us. We are usually bounded and confined to interactions with a similar set of people, thereby stagnating the growth and development of our personalities after a point.
- Being “YOU”!
While on your travels, you do not have to worry about what others think and whether or not they will judge you for you behavioural mannerisms. You have a complete license to absolutely break all the existing inhibitions thereby venturing into labyrinths of one’s personality which weren’t formerly discovered. And as for extroverts? They are faced with a new approach to life with a refreshed outlook!
- Confidence!
Whether or not one likes to admit it, travel infuses a sense of self-confidence which is part and parcel with the managing of the itinerary, accommodations, transportation and so forth. The situations that initially phase an individual are subsequently reduced with the increase in the frequency of travel.
- Imparts A Spirit Of Self-Dependency And Increases The Bond With Loved Ones!
Spending time with our family members leads to a feeling of belonging thereby creating a more cohesive bond. A sense of independence creeps in via the numerous decisions that one has to make while on the journey.
Well and memories is what we travel for, those that will serve us in our times of solitude and ones which will fondly be remembered.
Bon voyage!
